HISD School Closure & COVID-19 Virus Information

As part of our continued effort to provide the HISD community with the most current information available, this page has been created to provide a singular place for COVID-19 virus information & how it affects our community.

Update April 17:

Governor Abbott just presented his Executive Order concerning the process of reopening Texas. In it, he explained that schools would not be reopening their buildings to students for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.

In the coming days, we should be receiving additional information from the Commissioner of Education and TEA regarding graduation and other processes.

The principals and I will be working together to develop a master plan to help our teachers support our students academically for the remainder of this school year.

Thank you all for your support of at-home learning and your flexibility throughout these changing times. And remember...It’s a great day to be alive and a great day to be a Wildcat!

Central Office – Monday – Thursday from 8:00am – 12:00pm – Phone support only

Please also remember to do the following to prevent the spread of infection:

  • Wash hands often for 20 seconds, and encourage others to do the same.
  • If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue away.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Disinfect surfaces, buttons, handles, knobs, and other places touched often.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
