6th grade Reading:    Story of the week—“President Cleveland, Where Are You?”

Homework activities:  Grammar, Mechanics, Spelling and Vocabulary from story

Analogies:  Week 5

Story of the Week:  “President Cleveland, Where Are You?”  (SpEd students given copies of my notes from the overhead.)

Mon: Vocabulary preview & proofreading sentences.  Create story wheel to use during reading.

Tues:  Read story together in class.  Check homework page.

Wed:  Review story together and complete the Comprehension Check questions & # 2,3,4 (PIG) Activity.  Check homework page.

Thurs:  Selection Test over story of the week.  Check homework page.

Fri:  Check Analogies.  Vocabulary in Action p. 46.  DEAR time!!!!

 

7th/8th Grade Art:

Objective this week:  To se the way artists see in order to draw realistic images.

Mon:  Observe & draw a complex flower (30 min activity)

Tues:  Following the rules of contour drawing, draw a natural, complex inanimate object such as a shell.  (30 min activity)

Wed:  Following the rules of contour drawing, crumple a piece of paper and draw it.  Precisely.

Thurs:  Introduce “Modified Contour Drawing” pgs. 90-92  Draw your own hand using the modified contour method.

Fri:  Supplementary exercise p. 95

            Warm-Up:  5-10 min. doing a pure contour drawing, draw your tennis shoe.

            #6d Modified Contour drawing of a complex vegetable.

6th Grade Art:

Mon: Class B  Illustrate your story using your cartoons.

Tues:  Class A  What’s the Word?  Using shape words w/ pencil.

Wed:  Class B  What’s the Word? Activity

Thurs:  Class A  A Full Jar Activity  (drawing things to fit in jars)

Fri:  Class B  A Full Jar Activity
